Church Building Tip #3 - Don’t Overlook This When Building

One of the most difficult problems to resolve in a church building program is the issue of site work costs. Often architects will provide the church with an estimate of the cost but because the civil drawings have not been completed at the time of the bid, the estimate therefore may not be realistic.  Most contractors provide the church with an allowance for site work which means if the actual cost of the work is more than the allowance; it results in a contractor writing a change order to the owner.  It is not uncommon for a change order to be marked up 50% or even 100%.  Save thousands of dollars by securing the services of a church building consultant before executing any contracts with architects or contractors.
